Family Forest

As a tree grows it creates a physical documentation of the strife and successes it experiences. A timeline of its life, only seen once carved open. We as humans do a similar process, except we hold those experiences in our memories. Having realized one day that, although I've known them all my life, I felt I didn't truly know the lives of my family. I sat down and discussed life stories with several family members, spanning four generations, in order to get a better understanding of who I came from. The result is a set of tree prints turned wooden sculptures representing each life in full.
